Honoring a Visionary: The Katherine “Kitty” Victor Memorial Scholarship October 14, 2025

At The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA) Colorado Springs, we believe education has the power to transform lives and careers. One of our founding members, Katherine “Kitty” Victor, lived this truth every day.

Kitty was more than a leader; she was a mentor, teacher, and passionate advocate for learning in the beauty industry. As a Redken educator, she helped shape the principles that continue to guide salons and schools nationwide. She inspired countless students and earned the respect of industry icons like Michael Cole, Chris Baran, and Trevor and Kris Sorbie.

Her dedication, optimism, and love for education continue to inspire us today. To honor her memory, we are proud to offer the Katherine “Kitty” Victor Memorial Scholarship.

About the Scholarship

The Kitty Victor Memorial Scholarship is a $500 tuition award available to students enrolling in any of our beauty programs at The Salon Professional Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

This one-time scholarship is applied directly toward tuition and is open to new students who demonstrate the traits Kitty valued most:

How to Apply

Applicants must submit the following on or before their start date:

• A typed essay (500 words or fewer) answering: “What qualities/character traits would I currently bring with me into my training at The Academy, and what qualities/character traits would I like to improve on as I progress into my professional life?”
• A letter of character recommendation from a non-family member (such as a friend, mentor, or employer) explaining why you’d be a strong candidate for beauty education at TSPA. 
• A completed scholarship application form.

Applications must be complete to be considered.

How Winners Are Chosen

A panel of beauty industry professionals will review all essays and recommendation letters. Submissions will be evaluated on:

• Professionalism (10%)
• Clarity & Conciseness (20%)
• Content & Depth of Response (70%)

The essay that best demonstrates passion, authenticity, and vision for the future of the beauty industry will be selected as the winner.

Winners will be notified in writing within 30 days after their class start date.

Scholarship Details

• Award amount: $500 tuition credit
• Credited at 901 clock hours for Cosmetology or 301 clock hours for Esthetics/Nail Technology
• Students must meet SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) requirements to maintain eligibility.
• Non-transferable and non-cash; forfeited if the student withdraws or falls below SAP

Kitty’s life and career left an unforgettable mark on The Salon Professional Academy and the beauty industry as a whole. This scholarship is our way of keeping her legacy alive while empowering the next generation of beauty professionals to follow their passion with confidence and creativity.
